Activision QA has been able to produce a possible workaround for the time being with regards to the Gamertag freeze.

Anyone who has had the freezing issue should give this a try, but so far this has only fixed the issue for players who have adjusted their 360 controller sensitivity to "Low" in the Xbox 360 Dashboard (Profile -> Game Defaults -> General -> Controller Sensitivity -> Low) and then tried playing the multiplayer before the single-player. It also requires an Xbox 360 Memory Unit (MU).

If you attempt this workaround, please post your results and questions in this thread (all unrelated posts will be removed).

1. Using another profile, copy the corrupted profile to a memory unit, using the 360 dashboard;
2. Log into the profile that’s now on the Memory Unit;
3. Launch the game;
4. When the game asks for which save unit to load the game from, remove the memory unit from the 360. It should disappear from the list;
5. Select the HDD;
6. Once the main menu appears, you can plug back the memory unit in the 360.
7. Enter the options menu;
8. Press the XBOX GUIDE button, and scroll to the last blade to the left;
9. Select “Profile”;
10. Select “Game Defaults”;
11. Change the controller sensitivity to medium or high;
12. Close the 360 Guide;
13. Change any option in the options menu (e.g. move the volume slider by 1 notch);
14. Back out;
15. ***At this point, the game should save a correct version of the save file. However, you might receive a “Save File Corrupted” message: press A to overwrite it.
16. Return to the Dashboard, copy the profile back to the HDD;
17. Play the game

what is this supposed to fix,my game still locks up when loading after doing this,this game is broken and should not be sold

Doesn't work.

The corruption occurs because the GAME is saving something that is corrupt when saving at either a checkpoint or area change in the Downtown or nearby areas.

If the profile contains the saved gave, it also contains the corrupt data.

The only way this would work is if you have a saved game PRIOR to the corruption that is saved on the memory unit and load from that AND somehow get lucky enough for future saves in the Downtown area to not get corrupted.

An ACTUAL fix from ID (or whoever is responsible...seems like no one) would be to change the locations of the Checkpoint saves and to somehow modify the Change Area saves. My guess is that it occurs during a checkpoint save simply because it happened to me right after I selected a different objective than the one to which I was auto-assigned and immediately after one of the guys on my side said "Come on BJ, I'll take you to the Airfield". I had just selected the Radio Station mission, but it still thought I was on the Airfield.

I have been watching all the posts about game freezing and all the issues everyone is having with game. I have never been so disgusted with an anticipated game release in my life. I changed to a 360 years ago to avoid this kind of issue.

All I can say is I will tell anyone who will listen to to NOT bother with this game. I will trade this one in and be very very cautious buying anything that has Activision, ID, or Raven's name attached to it.

I too have been watching the gamertag freezing issue as it happened to me as well.. I purchased the game when it was released and started off playing the SP mode for few days. After enjoying the SP game, I entered into the MP game and enjoyed one night of online play. The next time I tried to play MP, my xbox froze at the 'press start' screen. I could not get into the SP or the MP for weeks, as it always would freeze forcing me to reboot the console. With no answers coming forth on this issue, I decided to try playing with a new account.

I created a 'Wolfie' account on my xbox (non-live account) and launched the game and was able to play SP complete with no freezing at any game saves or levels. I finished the SP campaign, no problems at all but could not play MP because my 'Wolfie' account was not Live. So, I was dying to play the MP so I tried launching the game with my Wolfie account. Once I got passed the 'Press Start' screen, I started the MP portion of the game. Once there, I was not able to select 'Quick Match' because my Wolfie account was not recognized, but I was able to switch account to my Live gamertag while in the MP menu. Once I switch accounts I am able to play the MP finally. I've had to do this everytiime I wanted to play MP only. I still can not use my Live account to play the SP mode, but who cares.

This fix seems to work, although, only the first SP achievements are listed on my Live account. My console account Wolfie has all my SP achievements. Not a big deal.

So this works ? Make a new acount? It workks? thank you very much! i got up to the farm and down to were you just vs. the 'snifers' then i went to the hospital and beat that. The game said it 'saved'. Wrong! i was anoyed for it was on hard wihch was easy but took longer. Im going to try it i really hope it works. Thank you. Cya!

I also have issues with freezing. I have tried to use the posted suggestions. No Luck!

What is needed is a class action lawsuit. Any lawyers out there?

Once again this is only good if you are not corrupt.

And by the time you find out it is to late.
